WHY KUKURUZA?
KuKuRuZa is a small company based in Seattle, WA., 3 blocks from the famous Pike's Place Market (If you get to town, please visit our retail shop to see us make our popcorn creations from scratch in front of your eyes, and have some fun with us). It was started and founded by me to create the best popcorn creations and flavors possible. The thought occurred to me one night while I was in a movie theatre where everybody around me was eating movie popcorn. I, who doesn't even like popcorn ironically, and never get any when I see a movie, was intrigued, and thought to myself at that moment, why doesn't somebody create some really amazing popcorn instead of this fake butter inferior popcorn stuff, that costs a fortune. In the following months, I labored in my home kitchen trying to create the best caramel popcorn imaginable, and tested repeatedly with my neighbors, who loved being taste testers, and this is how it began, and just branched out from this beginning. We continually strive to bring you the best tasting popcorn creations possible, even for people who "don't like popcorn" like myself (I like popcorn now!). Every flavor we make has been painstakingly evolved, thinking of every last detail to bring you the best product possible.
After researching the beginnings of popcorn popularity in the US, I discovered that it took root in the Great Depression of the 1930's as it was an affordable indulgence of the time. From that, I had the idea to bring Americana, nostalgic themes to the retail shop and online store, along with the old fashioned, classic simple recipes we employ to celebrate the traditions of this Country and the history of popcorn.
I will strive to always deliver the most amazing popcorn anywhere available and continually innovate with new product introductions, which I will share with via email from time to time as well as provide gift ideas in beautiful packaging for you to send to friends, family, and associates, whom you think will appreciate our products. The emails will also arrive around various gift-giving holidays as a reminder and will point to various online specials.
